Structural Design

We work closely with clients, architects, builders and surveyors to determine the best structural arrangement to satisfy your requirements for building function and cost. We advise on all elements of structural design and provide details and drawings for construction and building regulation approval.

If you want to change the layout of a building or change the building from its present use to an alternative use, then the means of structural support will need to be established. Failure to carry out such checks may render a building unstable. BDI Structural Engineers will review the means of structural support and calculate the suitability of any proposed changes.

Specialisms

We design in timber, masonry, steel, concrete and aluminium. We also have extensive experience in foundation design including piled foundations.

We work on new builds; including large houses, low-rise office buildings & developments, commercial & small industrial buildings. In addition, we work on building conversions, renovating buildings, alterations and extensions. BDI also has experience in the refurbishment of steel framed, reinforced concrete and historic stone buildings. We also advise upon external façade repairs.
